Intro to Book Binding; Coptic Stitch

Service Description

In this 2-hour class, participants will be introduced to Coptic binding in book arts. Coptic binding is popular because it is a way of binding pages of a book together without glue or staples. Coptic-bound books lay flat and make the perfect binding for sketchbooks. In this workshop, participants will learn how to set up their sections for binding including making consistent holes, and preparing covers and wax thread. All supplies are included in the workshop costs and no experience is necessary. At the end of the class, each person will take home two Coptic bound, blank sketchbooks—perfect for gifts or around-the-house notepads. Book with a friend and see you at Paradise! ____________________ This course runs from 1:00pm–3:00pm on + Tuesday, June 4th _______________ Included in the course fee; + all paper for two coptic bound books + coverweight paper for cover and back covers + wax linen thread and needles for sewing _______________ About the instructor; Ashley is the owner of Paradise Press and Print Studio and loves teaching her favorite printmaking techniques. She especially is fond of letterpress printing because of the complexities and details needed to complete a print.

Cancellation Policy

Paradise Press and Print Studio reserves the right to cancel a workshop if fewer than 3 participants register, the possibility of dangerous weather conditions, and any unforeseen building or studio issues. If Paradise Press and Print Studio needs to cancel or reschedule a workshop, participants will have the option to continue to be enrolled in the new course time or request a refund or course credit. ________________ Participant Cancelation: We require at least 3 days notice of cancellation, regardless of reason, to receive a full refund. Any cancellation less than 3 days prior to the workshop, will receive a workshop credit good for 60 days for any available workshop of equal value. If you are more than 45 minutes late, you will be considered a “no show” and it will be too late to receive a refund, workshop credit, or begin typesetting & printing at this point.
